What is confirmed and what is tentative
- Application window — Applications opened on 6 October 2026 and close on 27 October 2026. Do not leave it to the last day — portals slow down near deadlines.
- Number of posts — Reported first as 163 and later revised to 166. Check the latest figure, and the post-wise break-up, in the official notification and any corrigendum.
- Prelims date — 24 January 2027 is a tentative date. Plan your preparation around it, but watch psc.ap.gov.in for the confirmed schedule and hall tickets.
- Eligibility, age and other rules — As per the official notification — read it in full before you apply.
Stages of the Group 1 selection
Based on the scheme on our Group 1 exam page (confirm every detail in Notification No. 07/2026):
- 1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Test) — Two objective papers — Paper I General Studies and Paper II General Aptitude — of 120 questions and 120 minutes each. It only shortlists candidates for the Mains.
- 2. Main Examination — Descriptive (written-answer) papers; the papers and marks are set out in the notification.
- 3. Interview — For candidates shortlisted after the Mains.
Timeline at a glance
- 6 Oct 2026 — Online applications open.
- 27 Oct 2026 — Last date to apply.
- 24 Jan 2027 (tentative) — Preliminary Examination (Screening Test), as reported.
- Later — Main Examination and interview — dates as announced by APPSC.
Using the weeks until the Prelims
If the tentative date holds, there are about three months (roughly 13 weeks) between the last date to apply and the Prelims. That is enough for one full pass of both papers and a block of full-length practice — if you start now.
- Apply first — Finish your application well before 27 October and keep a copy of what you submit.
- Find your baseline — Write the free sample test or the free Grand Test (Paper I + Paper II) to see where you stand.
- Follow a plan — Our Group 1 preparation page has a week-by-week plan built around the tentative date.
